Apple is expected to upgrade the ultra-wide sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims the Apple iPhone 14 Pro models will have a new ultra-wide lens with a bigger sensor. With larger pixels, the sensor is able to capture more light and deliver better quality photos especially in low-light conditions.
The Apple iPhone 13 Pro currently has a 12MP ultra-wide lens with 1.0µm pixels. Kuo says the Apple iPhone 14 Pro is likely to have 1.4µm pixels.
The new ultra-wide lens are believed to be supplied by Sony, Minebea, VCM, Largan and LG Innotek. The new components are estimated to cost up to 70% higher than the current ones, which may explain the rumoured price hike for the Apple iPhone 14 Pro models.
