Apple COO reportedly meeting Foxconn chairman to discuss iPhone X production issues

Apple COO Jeff Williams might be meeting Foxconn chairman Terry Gou to discuss the iPhone X production issues.

Although KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes production issues should be resolved next month, the situation is deemed serious enough for senior Apple and Foxconn executives to meet and discuss on the matter.

According to Nikkei Asian Review, Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams will be visiting Taiwan for the 30th anniversary of TSMC. While Williams is in Taiwan, two industry sources claim that a meet up will be scheduled with Terry Gou, the chairman of Foxconn.

A tech industry executive familiar with the matter states that production issues still persist despite the yield rate of 3D sensor components improving. The executive also said that suppliers are unable to produce the iPhone X at full capacity by the end of October.

As of mid October, manufacturing partners are reportedly still struggling to refine the 3D sensors of the iPhone X. This has resulted in Kuo estimating that supply of the iPhone X could only catch up with the demand in the first half 2018.
