Apple might not be able to meet consumer demand for the iPhone X for a long time
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple would be unable to meet consumer demand for the iPhone X for a long time. Read on to find out why.
A six-week delay in the availability of the iPhone X might not be sufficient for Apple to ramp up production of the device to meet consumer demand.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that Apple is only able to ship about 40 million iPhone X units before the end of the year. This is down from his previous report of 50 million units. As a result, Kuo believes Apple will only catch up to consumer demand sometime in the first half of 2018.
The supply constraints are said to be caused by the shortages of OLED edge-to-edge displays and the technical difficulties in assembling the TrueDepth camera. Kuo previously pegged the production capacity of the iPhone X to be less than 10,000 units per day.
