Another purported Galaxy Note7 replacement unit exploded in Farmington Minnesota, which is the second incident reported in the U.S this week.
KSTP News reported that a Galaxy Note7 "melted" in the hands of its owner, 13-year-old Abby Zuis. She was holding the device when she felt a burning sensation described as "pins and needles except a lot intense", and dropped it immediately. The device began smoking and melted the case. Fortunately, Zuis only suffered a minor burn to her thumb.
Zuis' father told KSTP News that the Galaxy Note7 was a replacement set. He had initially bought the phone in August and had it exchanged on 21st September. He shared receipts of the purchase and exchange with the news station.
A Samsung spokeperson released a statement to KSTP News stating that the company is taking every report seriously and is currently investigating the latest incident. Samsung is gearing up to resume global sales of the Galaxy Note7 in the coming weeks, but concerns over the safety of the replacement units have reportedly make U.S telco AT&T reconsider selling the device at its stores.
