LG has just announced that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be available for the LG G3 today via an over the air update. The update includes a number of upgrades including an upgrade to Google's Material Design UI, which adds depth, shadow and animations, as well as improved notifications on the lock screen. 5.0 also adds security for trusted devices, letting users with a smartwatch such as the G Watch or G Watch R unlock their G3 smartphone when they get within range.

Additionally, G3 owners will be able to enjoy a few feature exclusively designed for Android 5.0 and the G3, called T Action.

T Action will allows users to perform the following tasks by swiftly flipping the LG G3 from front to back to front again:

  • Answering an incoming call;
  • Making a direct call to sender of the message when reading from the message panel;
  • Playing the next song on the playlist;
  • Trigger to begin the front camera three second countdown timer;
  • Returning to the previous page surfed when using the browser;
  • Turning off the alarm;

“We are constantly pushing for timely software updates to provide loyal consumers with new enhancements to improve their user experience,” said Mr. Scott Jung, Managing Director of LG Electronics Singapore. “Android 5.0 Lollipop for LG G3 delivers a number of optimizations that showcase a more minimalist user interface as well as features that enhance user convenience.”
