Is the rumoured Xiaomi Mi 11 going to be the first smartphone to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chipset? The signs say yes.

A copy of benchmarking results uploaded on Geekbench 5 revealed a Xiaomi M2012K11C with Android 11 operating system was spotted by various tech publications (h/t GizmoChina). Not only were the results were excessively high for a mobile handset, but the Xiaomi model name appended to it did not follow traditional naming conventions of Xiaomi smartphones.

Seeing how the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has the current-gen flagship processor (review here), tech enthusiasts are speculating if the mystery phone is a Xiaomi Mi 11 variant with a purported next-generation chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875.

Besides the abnormally high scores for the Xiaomi M2012K11C (typical Xiaomi Geekbench 5 scores for comparison ), another clue that hinted at the Snapdragon 875 chipset was the name of the motherboard in the results page - "Haydn". The old code names for Snapdragon 865 were "Kona" and "huracan", so this is a new appearance. Also, the 'Haydn' motherboard offered a clock rate of 1.8GHz, which was one of the leaked clock rates of the upcoming chipset.

We're cautious about it being the de facto Snapdragon 875 since other leaks indicate multiple variants of SD875 processors up for grabs.

bout this mysterious Xiaomi phone or the "Haydn" motherboard as the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020 draws nearer. Qualcomm typically announces its next flagship mobile platform at the annual summit, with last year's showcasing the Snapdragon 865 chipset and other 5G-ready processors.
