Multiple "Lite" variants of Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 said to be coming
Qualcomm is rumoured to be releasing several variants of its next generation mobile platform. Read on to find out why.
Qualcomm may be releasing multiple "Lite" variants of the next generation Snapdragon mobile platform.
According to Digital Chat Station, Oppo executives were overheard discussing about "Lite" variants of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875. There was also a mention of the Snapdragon 860. Two Oppo executives, Liu Bo and Li Zi Gui, along with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau were reportedly present at the meeting.
It is speculated that Qualcomm plans to lower the costs of its flagship mobile platform so that phone makers can include in their devices. The current flagship mobile platform does not come with an integrated modem, and phone makers have to pay extra to include the 5G X55 modem. Releasing "Lite" variants of the Snapdragon 875 could potentially address this issue.
