Unlike previous years, Apple is rumored to be introducing a major design overhaul for the iPhone in 2017.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is deciding between glass, plastic and ceramic casing for the 2017 iPhone lineup. He believes the iPhone maker will settle on glass much like the iPhone 4 design. In addition, Kuo claims that it will be a "completely new form factor design" with more narrow bezels and a "more comfortably grip".

Apple is also rumored to be replacing the 5.5-inch model with a 5.8-inch form factor which sports an AMOLED display. Due to the "new form factor design", the 5.8-inch iPhone will be smaller than the current 5.5-inch model. Wireless charging and biometric recognitions such as facial or eye recognition, are in the pipeline.

Chinese news site Nikkei reported earlier this month that Apple is ahead of schedule to ship iPhones with AMOLED displays and we could see them coming in 2017.
