Samsung is rumoured to be expanding its Galaxy Z Fold lineup next year.

Korean publication ETNews reported that Samsung plans to release two Galaxy Z Fold8 phones in 2026. The standard version retains a 10:9 aspect ratio for the foldable display, while a second model might feature a foldable screen with a square-like 18:18 aspect ratio.

This wouldn’t be the first time a foldable phone adopted a square-ish design. Oppo’s Find N (2021) and Find N2 (2022) both used a main screen with an 8.4:9 aspect ratio, while Google’s first Pixel Fold had a 7.6-inch display and a 6:5 aspect ratio.

Specs of the second Galaxy Z Fold8 model are reportedly being finalised by the end of this month or early October. Samsung is expected to unveil both Galaxy Z Fold8 models alongside the Galaxy Z Flip8 in the second half of 2026.

The expansion of the Galaxy Z Fold8 lineup may be part of Samsung’s strategy to prepare for Apple’s entry into the foldable space.
