Samsung has finally announced its long-awaited triple foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold.

As shared via Samsung’s official newsroom, Samsung believes its Galaxy Z TriFold “showcases engineering mastery” using its foldable technologies. It also assured users that the device is undoubtedly a premium flagship one.

About the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold’s folding and unfolding

When folded, the Galaxy Z TriFold is a 12.9mm phone with a 6.5-inch Cover Screen (Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 2,520 x 1,080 pixels resolution, 2,600-nits peak brightness, 1-120Hz refresh rate). For reference, the bi-fold folded Galaxy Z Fold7 is 8.9mm, while the preceding Galaxy Z Fold6 was 12.1mm.

Once the Galaxy Z TriFold is unfolded, it becomes a 10-inch Main Screen (Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 2,160 x 1,584 pixels resolution, 1,600-nits peak brightness, 1-120Hz refresh rate), which works out to a 4:3 aspect ratio. The thinnest point of the device is 3.9mm (where the SIM tray sits), while the thickest point is a mere 4.2mm (centre panel, with USB-C port).

The unfolded 10-inch display can handle three normal-sized upright apps side by side, resized apps in multi-window mode, or one big app for document viewing.

The entire device weights 309g.

How’s the hinge? The battery? And all the important bits?

Samsung said it uses Armor FlexHinge with two differently sized hinges and a dual-rail structure to accommodate the different components and weights across the device. The hinge’s housing uses Advanced Armor Aluminum, the same material used to cover the Galaxy Z Fold7’s hinge.

Galaxy Z TriFold also features an inward-folding design, which Samsung said helps protect the main display. It also has a built-in alarm in case the user folds the incorrect panel first. For added durability, it has a reinforced overcoat for shock absorption, and uses ceramic-glass, fibre-reinforced polymer for the back of the phone to keep it lighter and thinner.

That’s not forgetting its IP48-rated resistance against dust and water.

The 5,600mAh battery is a triple-cell design, which likely means Samsung packed a battery cell beneath each panel. It supports Samsung’s 45W fast charging adapter, and also has 15W wireless charging.

Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, which is the same Samsung-only Snapdragon processor used in its other star products, the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold7.

In its specification sheet, Samsung indicated that the phone has 16GB RAM, with 512GB and 1TB storage variants. It can also hold up to two physical SIM cards (nano SIM) and “multiple” eSIMs.

Also coming along are two 10MP front cameras (one on each screen), as well as a triple rear camera configuration:

  • 200MP main camera: f/1.7 aperture, Quad Pixel AF, OIS, 2x optical-quality zoom
  • 10MP telephoto camera: f/2.4 aperture, PDAF, OIS 3x optical zoom, 30x digital zoom
  • 12MP ultrawide camera: f/2.2 aperture, AF

Other features

Galaxy Z TriFold comes with Standalone Samsung DeX, supporting up to four workspaces that can run five apps each. It also has Extended Mode to connect to an external monitor and allows drag-and-drop across both the phone and the monitor.

For added productivity, the device is compatible with a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

Of course, there’s no way Samsung would forget to include Galaxy AI (Generative Edit, Sketch to Image, Photo Assist, Browsing Assist, summaries, translations, etc.). It’s ongoing partnership with Google also ensured it has Gemini Live working as your voice-activated online assistant.

The phone’s 10-inch display gets special support from the YouTube app, which Samsung said would display YouTube comments and the video side by side.

The phone runs on One UI 8, the reskinned Android 16 by Samsung.
