Here's a quick look at the latest flagship phones from Huawei - the Mate 30 and the Mate 30 Pro.

Meet the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. The smaller Mate 30 Pro is a 6.53-inch device, while the Mate 30 is a 6.62-inch phone. They'll both use Huawei's latest Kirin 990 5G SoC chipset, and will ship with EMUI 10.0 and Android 10. The Mate 30 will retail for €799, while the Mate 30 Pro will go for €1,099. The 5G version of the Mate 30 Pro will also have 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and that goes for €1,199.
There are a total of six colours for the Mate 30 series: Emerald Green, Space Silver, Cosmic Purple, Black, Forest Green (seen here), and Orange. The Forest Green and Orange colour options are made of actual vegan leather, so they're soft to touch.
Both phones will feature Huawei's new Horizon Display, which curves at an angle of 88 degrees to maximize the viewing area and to provide a more immersive "edge-to-edge" experience. The Mate 30 Pro has a resolution of 2,400 x 1,176 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.4:9 aspect ratio, while the Mate 30 has a resolution 2,340 x 1,080 pixels.
At the rear, you'll find the Mate 30 series' new ring design. Huawei says the halo gives the phones a "unique aesthetic that reflects our world, such as the nature of the ecosystem and the sense of power and warmth."
The Mate 30 features a 4,200mAh battery with 22.5W SuperCharge, while the Mate 30 Pro features a 4,500mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge. Both phones will support 27W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging capabilities.
While the Mate 30 Pro uses the Omnidirectional electromagnetic Sound on Display system first seen in the P30 series, the Mate 30 gets a traditional speaker system as seen here.
Only the Mate 30 Pro gets the new side-touch interaction feature though. As you can see, it can be set to let you increase or decrease volume just by running your finger across the side of the screen. It’s customizable so you can set different functions to both sides.
Turn over to the bottom, and you’ll get a USB-C port and dual SIM tray. This still only takes support Huawei's proprietary Nano memory card for memory expansion, unfortunately. The Mate 30 Pro is waterproof to IP68; capable of being submerged in water down to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes. The Mate 30 isn't waterproof.
Now on to the camera systems! The Mate 30 Pro has a rear Leica Quad Camera System, with a 1/1.54-inch large sensor 40MP (18mm) Ultra-wide Cine Camera, a 1/1.7-inch 40MP (27mm) SuperSensing Wide Camera, an 8MP (80mm) Telephoto lens which supports 3x Optical Zoom, 5x Hybrid Zoom and 30x Digital Zoom, and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera.
The Cine Camera in particular is said to provide ISO 51,200 Ultra Low-light video, 7,680 fps Ultra Slow-motion video, and 4K Ultra Wide-angle time-lapse video. Those are features that even full-fledged interchangeable lens cameras would struggle to match!
And here's the front camera on the Mate 30 Pro. This is a 32MP RGB camera that's paired with a 3D Depth sensing camera that can be used for various AR effects, like the 3D facial recognition security feature.
The Mate 30 on the other hand has a more modest Leica Triple Camera System on its rear, with the same 40MP SuperSensing Camera, a 16MP Ultra Wide Angle lens, a laser focus module, and an 8MP Telephoto lens which supports 3x Optical Zoom, 5x Hybrid Zoom and 30x Digital Zoom.

Finally, there's also going to be a Porsche version of the phone. This comes in Red (as above) or Black leather, and will available with the highest base specifications of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. For that, you'll pay 2,095 Euros. Specific availability for all of these phones wasn't announced, but they're supposed to be coming by the end of this year.
