Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 personifies fashion and style with its new edge-to-edge outer screen

All-around improvements (save for one peculiar specification) make the Galaxy Z Flip7 even more attractive as a fashion statement and a modern phone.

When Samsung does its H2 Galaxy Unpacked keynote, there’s no way we’d forget its foldable fashion icon.

This year, it’s the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7, and we can tell you exactly what the improvements are, and what you’re getting with the new clamshell foldable.

Fashion statement now in full-screen mode

The biggest change is to its FlexWindow, the fancy name Samsung gives to the Galaxy Z Flip phone’s outer screen. On the Galaxy Z Flip7, it is now a Super AMOLED edge-to-edge panel at 4.1 inches (120Hz refresh rate, 948 x 1,048 pixels resolution, 2,600-nits peak brightness, with Vision Booster included).

Building upon the previous Flip display’s flexibility and app compatibility, the new Galaxy Z Flip7’s FlexWindow is ready to take over any task that doesn’t need your fullest attention.

But if you’re locked in, that’s when the 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display comes into play, like any regular phone.

Stronger is sexier

Also improved are its dimensions, with Galaxy Z Flip7 now at a mere 188g and 13.7mm folded. It may be 1g heavier than before, but its reduction from its old 14.9mm silhouette is keenly felt, thanks to its fresher, angular design.

Both cover and back sides are plated in Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and its Armor FlexHinge is now thinner than its predecessor’s thanks to a new design. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold7’s Advanced Armor Aluminum, the Galaxy Z Flip7 instead has Armor Aluminum Frame.

More impressive is that the reduction in thickness went against logic and resulted in a larger 4,300mAh battery for the Galaxy Z Flip7. That’s a whopping 300mAh more than before. Less is, literally, more.

Finally, the Galaxy Z Flip7 gains Samsung DeX compatibility, allowing users to connect to a screen for PC-like controls and seamless multitasking.

A notable shift is that all Galaxy Z Flip7 devices now use Samsung Exynos 2500 instead of a Snapdragon chip by Qualcomm, and it applies to all units of the device no matter where you buy it from. We’ll want to see if this affects the performance (and value!) of the premium clamshell.

Optimised One UI 8 and Galaxy AI for maximum Cover Screen use

One UI 8 (Samsung’s operating system, based on Android 16) gets several tweaks to take advantage of the Galaxy Z Flip7’s unique dual-screen, camera-first design.

FlexWindow now supports Gemini Live, allowing users to set the phone upright and conduct visual intelligence searches and queries.

It can effectively read your apps, make recommendations based on what you’re holding (food, clothes, etc.) and help you store information in Samsung Notes app at your behest (top restaurants, and more). The Cover Screen is now a personal assistant, but for pleasure and leisure.

Also integrated are Now Bar and Now Brief. Now Bar gets more third-party app support and displays real-time app activity on the Cover Screen. Now Brief’s updates (which requires a Samsung Account) combines Modes, Routines, and the built-in Personal Data Engine for even stronger context-based suggestions.

Preview selfies and take better ones

The larger FlexWindow is kitted with a 50MP main camera and 12MP ultrawide camera, and it’s backed by Samsung’s latest ProVisual Engine image processing pipeline.

Perks include Enhanced Nightography, which reduces noise and blurry frames. Dual Preview displays the viewfinder on both screens, allowing you to preview FlexCam shots even before they are taken using Real-Time Filters.

To make zooming easier, the phone also features a Zoom Slider that now works via swipe gestures.

Other perks

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in two configurations. Both have 12GB RAM, but differ in storage capacity, offering 256GB and 512GB options.

It’s compatible with the Samsung 25W Adapter (not included), which supports fast charging of up to 50% in 30 minutes.

It’s still rated IP48 for water and dust resistance, supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and features a single Nano SIM slot with multiple eSIM slots.
