Amazon Singapore announces a price increase for Prime membership to S$4.99
If you balk at paying S$4.99 monthly, you can subscribe to the annual plan at S$49.99 for some savings.

In a move that is sure to shock some people with its abruptness, Amazon Singapore’s first price change for local Prime members has arrived, with the monthly subscription fee set to change from S$2.99 to S$4.99 starting from 28 August 2024. So new members who sign up to Prime from today will pay the new rate, while current Prime members will see the new price kick in from 28 September.
This isn’t the first price increase to hit us with Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify all having done so within the last 12 months.
To help defray some of the increase, Amazon Singapore has introduced an annual subscription plan priced at S$49.90. This plan provides a 16% discount when compared to the monthly subscription, effectively offering two months of free membership annually.
Peter Li, Director, China and Singapore, Amazon said:
Prime offers an incredible combination of shopping, savings, and entertainment in a single membership that we know our members love. To continue expanding Prime member benefits and growing our offerings, we will be changing the price of Prime from S$2.99 to S$4.99 per month. Additionally, we are introducing an annual plan for members to unlock even greater value. At S$49.90 per year, members who sign up for the annual plan will enjoy savings of over 16% compared to the monthly plan, equivalent to two months free per year.
The company says that this is the first price change since the service launched seven years ago with Prime member benefits in Singapore now offering a wider selection of local and international product selection available with fast and free delivery.
It stressed that Prime members have access to Prime exclusive deals and discounts during major sales events like Prime Day, Prime Big Deal Days, Black Friday, and other seasonal promotions. Members also have access to digital entertainment such as TV shows, movies, and games. Prime members can also enjoy a discount of up to 10% off on over a million products exclusively for Prime members.
