As promised, Canon has issued a firmware update to address a rare lock-up problem on its EOS–1D X Mark III DSLR.
Available since Mar 31, firmware version 1.1.0 corrects the ‘phenomenon’ in which the camera may freeze when operating the AF-ON button or shutter button when the electronic level is set to ‘Show’ in the viewfinder display. It also corrects the issue of Custom Shooting Mode settings changing for no reason when you switch the shooting mode.
For video pros, the new firmware also adds the option to capture Full HD and 4K movies in 23.98p frame rate. Other minor improvements include better wired LAN communication speeds and a new Browser Remote function that lets you control the camera through a web browser.
