Sennheiser first announced the new Momentum Sport earbuds at CES 2024 alongside the company's flagship Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, and both earbuds have now been confirmed to be coming to Singapore. While the Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds are now available, the Momentum Sport earbuds will only be available from 9 April 2024 onwards.

The German company has clearly moved away from the more angular design that we've seen in products like the Sennheiser Sport True Wireless, opting instead for a softer, rounded design that's similar to the Momentum True Wireless 4. This means even better comfort while using the earbuds, especially when moving around and exercising. Speaking of exercising, these earbuds also have an IP55 rating, so a little bit of rain and sweat isn't going to be a problem.

There's a new 10mm transducer in the Momentum Sport, with a semi-open design thanks to an acoustic relief channel that's supposed to help reduce body-borne noise that might occur while exercising as well as provide environmental awareness to stay alert and safe.

We had the opportunity to try the earbuds out for a bit, and while the design did help with reducing body-borne noises, it didn't feel like there was enough environmental awareness for runners or cyclists. Thanks to the snug fit, the earbuds still blocked out a good amount of surrounding noise, especially when Adaptive Noise Cancelling was on. If you require environmental awareness, you'd probably have to turn on Transparency mode in addition to having the relief channel.

There's also a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor and body temperature sensor built-in, with Sennheiser claiming in-ear temperature readings are more accurate than wrist-skin measurements and that the Momentum Sport can monitor the wearer's body temperature with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 degrees Celsius.

Heart rate is measured with a beats-per-minute detection between 30 to 220 bpm, and the data integrates with a bunch of devices and sports apps like Apple Watch/Health, Garmin Watch/Connect, Strava, Peloton and more.

Pricing and availability

The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds will be available at Sennheiser's website and selected retailers from 9 April onwards at S$479, coming in three colourways: Polar Black, Burned Olive and Metallic Graphite.
