Sennheiser has unveiled a new closed-back headphone to add to their HD 600 series. Following the HD 820 that came out in 2018, the new HD 620S promises an immersive, “out-of-head” listening experience in a portable form factor suited for private listening.
Sennheiser says that the HD 620S is capable of producing a spacious and dimensional soundstage that defies the conventional limitations of closed-back designs. This is made possible by acoustic design elements like an angled baffle and a rear isolation plate to manage internal reflection.
Inside the HD 620S is a custom 42mm dynamic driver. Sennheiser says it carries the same smooth, natural tonality of the HD 600 series, while still being able to produce deep, articulated bass. A 150-ohm aluminium voice coil ensures enhanced clarity and accuracy in audio reproduction and provides a fast response for punchy dynamics ideal for casual music listening and gaming.

Weighing at 670g, the HD 620S has a metal-reinforced headband and earcups made of artificial leather for lasting comfort. The headphones use a chassis that is reminiscent of the HD 560S.
As for cables, the HD 620S comes with a 1.8m-long cable that terminates in a 3.5mm plug. A 6.3mm adapter is also included. If you are keen on plugging in via a 4.4mm balanced cable, Sennheiser says that the optional cable will be available this summer.
