YouTube Premium Family plan sees a price increase from S$17.98 to S$27.98!

Weeks after Amazon Singapore announced a price increase for its Prime membership, and six months after Netflix increased its subscription prices, Google is making a similar move for its YouTube Premium and Music Premium plans.

 

YouTube Premium 

Current YouTube Premium Family subscribers have received an email from YouTube informing them of the price hike from S$17.98 to S$27.98! This is a price increase of $10 or 56%

For the Individual and Student plan, subscribers have to pay an extra S$2/month. That's an increase of about 17% and 29% respectively for the Individual and Student plan. Summarised in the table below are the new and old plans for reference:

YouTube Music Premium

Aside from YouTube Premium, Google is also increasing the prices for its Music Premium Individual and Family plans.

The YouTube Music Premium Family and Individual plans see a price hike of an extra S$3/month and S$1/month respectively. Below is an overview of the price hikes for YouTube Music, including iOS users:

Google says the price increase is to allow the company "to continue delivering great service and features", and "support the creators and artists" on YouTube.

The first price hike for YouTube Premium Family happened in October 2022 for consumers in other countries excluding Singapore. YouTube Premium's subscription fee for the Individual plan went up in July 2023 for U.S consumers, which was five years after the last price hike following the relaunch of YouTube Music in 2018.
