Samsung will reportedly unveil its extended reality (XR) glasses in Q3 next year.

According to Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper, Samsung plans to release a pair of smart glasses which it is developing in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm in the third quarter of 2025.

The initial production volume is said to be around 500,000 units, which suggests limited availability in selected markets.

The Samsung XR glasses are expected to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor, the same chip found in the Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses. The smart glasses will also ship with Google's Gemini Large Language Model (LLM) to offer several AI features.

Other specs and features include an NXP auxiliary processing unit, a 12MP Sony IMX681 CMOS image sensor, QR code recognition for mobile payment, gesture recognition, and human recognition functions.

With a 155mAh battery, the Samsung XR glasses are believed to weigh around 50g which is about the same as the Ray-Ban | Meta Smart Glasses.

Samsung might give a preview of the XR glasses at the rumoured Galaxy Unpacked event in the second half of January 2025. The South Korean company could also showcase partnerships and plans with Meta and Microsoft to build a strong ecosystem for the XR glasses.
