While app analytics firm Sensor Tower pegged downloads of Super Mario Run at 25 million in four days, the actual number is significantly higher.

According to the news release on Nintendo's website, Super Mario Run has set a new App Store record for a game launch with more than 40 million downloads in four days. As Super Mario Run was available in 150 countries at launch, this feat is hardly surprising although it does not seem to surpass the record set by Pokémon GO for the most number of downloads in the first week of launch.

Super Mario Run is expected to get more downloads than Pokémon GO in the first month, but revenue is likely to be far below that of the latter.  It continues to top the charts in many countries. If you're playing Super Mario Run, do remember to track your data usage as the reliance on a constant Internet connection is said to consume up to 60MB of data an hour.
