The upcoming Huawei Mate X foldable phone might be dead on arrival.

The Nikkei Asian Review claims that the Mate X will join the Mate 30 series in having no access to Google apps or services. While they can run on the open-source Android version, they will not ship with the Google Play Store, Chrome, Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and other apps.

The U.S government has extended the temporary license for Huawei to continue issuing updates to phones and maintain existing network equipment, but the Chinese company is banned from using any American goods for future and unannounced products.
