The HTC One M9 may have a 20-megapixel rear camera, but it reportedly came up short against rival Android flagship smartphones in mobile photography. The Taiwanese company seems to have acknowledged its weakness and is working to address it in the next flagship smartphone.

According to a Vietnamese report, HTC's upcoming Aero flagship smartphone will sport a "groundbreaking" rear camera that is more revolutionary than the UltraPixel technology which was introduced in the One M7. The new rear camera reportedly has an aperture of f/1.9, an improved user interface and supports RAW images.

Aside from UltraPixel, HTC also introduced an innovative Duo Camera technology on the One M8 last year which uses two rear camera lenses to capture depth of field (DOF) information and offers a new set of editing options and picture enhancements.
