Apple hires former Tesla VP and Aston Martin Chief Engineer
9to5Mac and its sister site Electrek have exclusively confirmed that former Tesla VP and Aston Martin Chief Engineer Chris Porritt has joined Apple to work on "special projects".

Apple has found a candidate to lead the company's automobile project and he has about 28 years of experience in the industry.
According to 9to5Mac and Electrek, they have exclusively confirmed that Apple hired former Tesla Vice President (VP) of Vehicle Engineering and former Aston Martin Chief Engineer Chris Porritt to work on "special projects". Porritt is likely to lead the Apple Car project team after its former leader left earlier this year.
Based on Porritt's LinkedIn profile, he holds a Master of Engineering in Automotive Technology Management and joined Land Rover in September 1987. Before he left Land Rover in July 1997, Porritt was the Principal Engineer. He went on to work at Aston Martin as Chief Engineer for more than 15 years.
At Aston Martin, Porritt was involved in the making of some of the company's most iconic models such as the One-77, V12 Zagato and Aston Martin DB9. In 2013, Porritt joined Tesla as the VP of Engineering and reportedly worked on the Model S, X platforms and the Model 3 chassis. Several senior engineers at Apple are said to report directly to Porritt.
