CEF 2016 is happening at Suntec Singapore from today November 17th to the 20th. Want to know what are some of the products and deals that caught our eye when we combed the show floor earlier today? Well, you've come to the right place. Don't head down to CEF without first reading this!
CEF 2016 highlights!
The Consumer Electronics Fair (CEF) 2016 is happening this week from 17 to 20 November. Organized by the same folks who brought you IT Show, Comex, and CEE, this year's CEF show will take place at Suntec Singapore, level 4 and 3. Take note that if you're looking for mobile phones, desktop computers, portable laptops, digital cameras, and e-mobility vehicles, those can be found on level 4 throughout the four days. On the other hand, home electronic goods from brands like Tefal, Braun, Europace and a few TV brands will be on level 3, which opens from 19 to 20 November. Opening hours are 12 - 9pm; and as always, admission is free.

Philips
Courts has many Philips TVs on offer at CEF. If you don't need 4K and just want a large-screen TV, there's this 55-inch 1080p Philips TV going for just $899. Even includes an Android hub, wall mount, and 3 years of warranty.
This Philips 55PUT5801/98 is a slim 4K UHD TV that supports DVB-T2 and has four HDMI inputs. Going for just $1,188 at the show, and you get a free 4K Android hub, wall mount, and 3 years of warranty.
This model is simply the smaller 49-inch version of the Philips PUT5801/98 shown above. It comes with the same freebies, but you only pay $799 for this 49-inch 4K model.

Acer
If you think the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 too expensive, the Acer Switch Alpha 12 may be a good option. It features a fanless design, relying instead on an integrated liquid cooling solution to stay cool. You’ll be able to get it with up to an Intel Core i7-6500U processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It is available now starting at $1,498, and comes with a premium bundle (worth $475.95) that includes things like an Acer Active Stylus, a 3-year McAfee Internet Security subscription, and Microsoft Office 365 Personal.
The Acer Swift 7 is literally the world’s thinnest notebook. At just 9.98mm thick and weighing 1.12kg, it is exceedingly sleek and portable. It is powered by a seventh-generation Intel Core i7-7Y75 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. You can get it at a starting price of $1,998, together with a bundle (worth $335) that includes a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse, a 3-year McAfee Internet Security subscription, and a carrying case.
The Acer Aspire R15 is a 15-inch convertible that ships with Intel’s new Kaby Lake processors. It features up to an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 12GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It can be yours for $1,698, together with a free backpack and 3-year McAfee Internet Security subscription.
Acer has updated its Predator 15 gaming laptop with NVIDIA's new Pascal GPUs, and the refreshed notebook now comes with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It will cost you $2,698, $200 off its usual price.
ASUS
The ASUS ZenBook 3 bears more than a passing resemblance to the Apple MacBook. The 12.5-inch notebook comes with an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB PCIe SSD. It is light as well, weighing a mere 910g. The top configuration will cost you $2,598, while the mid-range model will cost $1,998. Both versions come bundled with a 1-year anti-virus subscription, a sleeve case, and an ASUS Mini Dock.
The ASUS Transformer 3 Pro is ASUS' reply to the Surface Pro 4. It supports up to an Intel Core i7-6500U processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB PCIe SSD. The 12.6-inch touchscreen display boasts a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels, which should render images plenty sharp. The top model costs $2,598, but there's also an Intel Core i5 version that costs $1,898. It comes bundled with an ASUS Pen, Transformer Cover Keyboard, and a 1-year anti-virus subscription.
For something more affordable, there's the ASUS X456. These ship with Intel's latest processors as well, an Intel Core i5-7200U to be exact, in addition to 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 1TB SATA HDD. The 14-inch notebook also comes with a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 940MX GPU for powering its 1,366 x 768-pixel display. You can get it at just $899, together with a 1-year anti-virus subscription, notebook bag, and optical mouse.
The ASUS ROG Strix GL502 features a striking design with bright orange highlights. This is a powerful 15.6-inch notebook, featuring an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It costs $2,498, and comes bundled with a 1-year anti-virus subscription, an ROG gaming headset, mouse, and backpack.
Alienware
The Alienware 15 R2 doesn't come with the latest specifications, but it may be enough for those who don't need the most cutting-edge hardware. It is powered by an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB HDD. The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M card, while the display itself has just a modest 1,920 x ,1080-pixel resolution. You can get it at just $1,899 (if you're a Newstead member), together with a free Alienware Vindicator backpack. That said, the refreshed Alienware notebooks are also up for pre-order starting at $2,999.
Dell
The Dell XPS 13 has now been updated with Intel’s Kaby Lake processors. It supports up to an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, all of which is packaged in the same svelte chassis that made its predecessor such a winner. It starts at $1,799 for the Core i5 model, but can cost as much as $2,599 with all the specs maxed out. Each purchase will net you a free 1 year of accidental damage coverage and a 1-year McAfee LiveSafe subscription.
The Dell XPS 15 is the bigger brother of the 13.3-inch XPS 13. It is equipped with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Its 15.6-inch display sports a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, and is paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M GPU. It can be yours for $2,399, but the model with a 4K display, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD will cost you $2,999. The 13.3-inch HP Envy 13 boasts specifications on part with the competition, but with a much lower price. It is equipped with an Intel Core i7-6500U processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Its speakers have even been tuned by B&O. It costs just $1,299, down from $1,699 usually, and comes along with a free 1-year McAfee Internet Security subscription, 2 years of local onsite warranty, and a carrying case.
The HP Spectre x360 is a versatile convertible that can be used in a variety of modes to accommodate different use cases. It has been updated with an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB PCIe SSD. The display is still a modest 1080p one, but that should be enough for its compact 13.3-inch screen. It is available at $2,299, and comes with a free 1-year McAfee Internet Security subscription, 2 years of local onsite warranty, and a carrying case.
Lenovo
The new Lenovo Yoga 910 comes with a seventh-generation Intel Core i5-7200U processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe SSD. Its 13.9-inch 1080p display supports multiple touch inputs, and it interfaces with the keyboard via Lenovo’s signature watchband hinge. It can be yours for $2,099, but a more powerful model with a Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD will cost you $2,699. It comes with a 2-year carry-in warranty, a 2-year Kaspersky anti-virus subscription, Samsonite carrying case, and Lenovo Active Pen.
Intel Kaby Lake has arrived on the Lenovo Yoga 710 convertible as well. It is powered by an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The 15.6-inch touchscreen IPS display as a 1080p resolution. It is available at $1,999, together with a 2-year Kaspersky anti-virus subscription and a Samsonite carrying case.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 may not be the most updated notebook on the market, but it still deserves a look if you don’t need the latest and most powerful hardware. It comes with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB SATA HDD. The GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960. It costs $1,599, $200 off its usual price, and is bundled with a Lenovo backpack, gaming mouse, mouse pad, and a 2-year anti-virus subscription and carry-in warranty.
Microsoft
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 features an Intel Core i7-6650U, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Its 12.3-inch, 2,736 x 1,824 pixels display has a higher resolution than the previous-gen Surface Pro 3 and is still thinner than it. Priced at $2,499, the Type Cover keyboard comes free, along with an accessories bundle pack.
MSI
The MSI GS73VR 6RF Stealth Pro is equipped with NVIDIA’s latest Pascal GPUs. In addition to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 powering its 17.3-inch 4K display, it boasts an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB PCIe SSD and 1TB HDD. The keyboard is an RGB backlit affair by SteelSeries. It will cost you $3,499 and come with a free SteelSeries headset and MSI Slim backpack.
For a more compact option, there’s the 15.6-inch MSI GE62VR 6RF Apache Pro. This notebook is powered by an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD. It relies on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 card for powering its 1080p IPS display. It can be had for $2,499, along with a free MSI gaming mouse, mousepad, dragon keychain, and backpack.
The MSI GE72VR 6RF Apache Pro is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 as well. In addition, it features an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD. The standout feature is its 1080p 120Hz display that allows for a more fluid and responsive experience. It can be had at $2,699, and comes bundled with a free MSI gaming mouse, mousepad, dragon keychain, and backpack.
Desktops
Acer
The Acer Predator G6 gaming desktop is powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti and can be equipped with up to 24GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD and 2TB HDD. It also comes with a Steelseries keyboard and mouse bundle. Prices begin at $3,399.
Alienware
This is the Alienware X51 gaming desktop. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and comes with 16GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 graphics with 2GB GDDR5 memory. It is available at $1,499 (U.P.) $1,899.
If you need something more powerful, there's the Alienware Aurora R5. The highest spec model comes with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB RAM, and NVIDIA's powerful GeForce GTX 1080 with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. It is going for $4,999 and comes with free Dell wireless speakers.
ASUS
Looking for gaming desktops? Head over to ASUS where they have the ROG G20 and ROG G11 gaming systems. They are powered by quad-core Intel Core i7 processors and feature NVIDIA's latest 10 series GPUs. Prices of the ROG G20 start at $2,598, while prices of the ROG G11 start at $1,898.
The ASUS PRO D320MT is a fuss-free desktop for your everyday computing needs. It is powered by a modest Intel Core i3 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB HDD. It is going for $799 and comes with a wired mouse, keyboard, and a year's subscription to McAfee's anti-virus service.
This is the HP Envy 860, it is powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 3TB HDD, and features NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti graphics. It is priced at $2,499 (U.P $3,299).
The HP Pavilion 550 features a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 graphics with 4GB DDR3 VRAM. It is priced at $1,199.
Lenovo
Don't let looks fool you. The Lenovo IdeaCentre 710 Cube might be small, but it packs a punch. Inside is a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 2TB HDD and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics. It is going for $3,099 and comes with free Lenovo keyboard and mouse.
The Lenovo IdeaCentre 610S is a nifty desktop and features a projector, making it great for movie fans. It is powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 graphics. It is priced at $1,899 (U.P $2,299).
Monitors - 1
Acer
The Acer Predator is a 34-inch ultra wide curved monitor that supports G-Sync technology and has a fast refresh time of 100Hz. It outputs a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels and it is going for $1,499 (U.P $1,699).
The Acer XB281HK is a 4K gaming monitor that supports G-Sync technology and a super quick response time of 1ms. However, because of its ultra-high resolution, refresh rates are capped at 60Hz. It is going for S$799.
AOC
The AOC I2476VWM6 is one of more affordable IPS monitors at the show. Priced at $189 (U.P $269), it supports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and features anti-blue light and flick-free technology.
The 27-inch AOC Agon is a serious gaming monitor that features an IPS panel and supports G-Sync technology. It has a fast response time of 4ms and supports a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It also has built-in speakers and doubles as a USB hub with four USB 3.0 ports. It is going for $1,099 (U.P. $1,299).
ASUS
The ASUS ROG PG248Q is a super fast gaming monitor that has a response time of 1ms and a maximum refresh rate of 180Hz. It also supports G-Sync technology. It is priced at $799 (U.P. $899) and comes with free World of Warships in-game items.
The ASUS VX248H is a 24-inch Full-HD monitor with built-in speakers and a response time of 1ms. It's great for casual gamers and is currently priced at $189 (U.P. $239) and comes with a free HDMI cable.
Dell
The Dell U2717D has an extremely thin bezel and supports a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It also has a highly adjustable stand that adjusts for tilt and height, and can be tilted and pivoted. It is going for $739.
The Dell SE2717H is a more affordable alternative. It is also 27-inches large, but it only supports Full-HD resolution, which means 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is going for $239.
Monitors - Cont'd
LG
The 34-inch LG 34UC79G is touted as the world's first curved gaming monitor. It has an IPS display and a high refresh rate of 144Hz. It is going for $1,099.
The 25-inch LG 25UM58 is one of the most affordable ultra wide monitors we found at the show. It supports a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels and is priced at $279 (U.P. $329) and comes with a free HDMI cable.
Philips
The Philips 288P6LJEB is a 28-inch 4K monitor with a response time of 1ms. It also has built-in speakers and USB hub with two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. It is going for $799 (U.P $899).
One of the top buys from Philips is the 27X6QJSW. It is a 27-inch monitor with a curved display that supports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is going for $389 (U.P. $499).
Samsung
The Samsung S34E790CS is a 34-inch curved monitor that supports a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels, has built-in speakers, and also doubles up as a USB hub with 5 USB 3.0 ports. It is going for $1,098 (U.P $1,498) and comes with a free HDMI cable.
The Samsung C24F390FHEX is a 23.6-inch monitor with a curved display and it supports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. At $228 (U.P $328), it was one of the most affordable curved monitors we saw.
Mobile & Telcos - 1
ASUS
In Hall 404, CH2 is selling a number of smartphones, including the ZenFone 3 starting from $388.

Maybe we were too early, but the booths didn't have the ZenPad C 7.0 for us to shoot. Still, we were told that this 7-inch tablet running on an Intel Atom processor with 1GB RAM will be sold at CEF for $169, and will come with lifetime free 5GB ASUS WebStorage and another 11GB for the first year.
Fitbit
Fitbit's various activity trackers are available at CEF. Among them all, the teal color version of the Fitbit Charge HR (not shown here) is going for $138, down from the usual $218. While stocks last only.
Lenovo / Moto
The Lenovo K5 Note has a 5.5-inch FHD screen, a MediaTek octa-core 1.3GHz SoC, 4GB RAM, a 13MP rear camera, and a 3,500mAh battery. Usually going for $599, but at CEF, you can pick one up at $399. Comes with free Tapkids game and iRing stand, too.
The Lenovo A6600 Plus has a 5-inch HD screen, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and an 8MP rear camera. Going for just $149.
The Moto Z has a nice 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display and powerful Snapdragon 820 processor, but its main appeal is the ability to transform into something else when you snap on a Moto Mod. Going for $899 (U.P: $999) just for the phone.

LG
The LG K8 sports a 5.0-inch HD display, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, a MediaTek MT6735 quad-core 1.3GHz processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, an 8MP rear camera, and a removable 2,125mAh battery. Going for $199, down from the usual $249.
M1
It's mostly fiber deals at M1. One of which is this 1Gbps fiber broadband plan for $32/month. You can also top up $5/month to get a wireless-AC router. Comes with a free Dect phone, and $100 handset discount, too.
Mobile & Telcos - Cont'd
Samsung
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime sports a 5.5-inch screen, 16GB memory, an 8MP front camera that's good for taking selfies, and is available in black and white color options. Going for $398.
This TabPro S has a very nice 12-inch Super AMOLED screen and 128GB of storage. And it runs Windows 10 instead of Android. Going for $998 (down from $1,698) and that includes the full-sized keyboard.

The Gear Fit 2 is going for $248 at CEF, down from the usual $298. This sports band has built-in GPS and can monitor your heart rate.
Singtel
Singtel's $59.90/month fiber home bundle nets you a 1Gbps connection, and freebies like a dual-band AC router, 500MB 4G mobile broadband, a home digital line with free unlimited local calls, and 10% off your mobile subscription.
StarHub
If you're signing up with StarHub for its HomeHub 1000 plan, consider topping up extra a month to get a Samsung 4K TV and free Courts vouchers. For example, top up $40/month gets you a 43-inch Samsung KU6000 4K TV and $50 Courts vouchers.
There's this 1Gbps fiber plan from StarHub (24-month contract) that gives you the first 6 months free. After which, the price per month is $49.90. You also get a free D-Link DIR-868L AC1750 wireless router and free service installation.
Xiaomi
CH2 is selling the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 for $249 for the 16GB storage/2GB RAM version, and $299 for the 64GB storage/3GB RAM version. For those unaware, the Redmi Note 4 has a full metal unibody design, a 5.5-inch FHD screen, and is powered by a MediaTek deca-core processor. Of course, since this is a 3rd party reseller, it doesn't come with official warranty from Xiaomi.
ZTE
The ZTE Blade V7 Lite has a 5-inch HD IPS screen, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 13MP rear camera. It also runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Going for just $229.
The ZTE Blade S7 has a 5-inch FHD IPS screen, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and a 13MP rear camera. Going only for $299.
Printers
Brother
The Brother DCP-T700W is an AIO (print, copy, scan) printer that uses an refill ink tank system. It has a 20-sheet ADF and supports wireless networking. 2 x 6,000-page yield black ink bottles are already included in the box. Going for $368, with free $30 shopping voucher.
The Brother MFC-J3720 is an A3 AIO printer (print, scan, copy, fax) with a 35-sheet ADF that supports up to A3 size. It supports wired and wireless networking and comes with 2 years of on-site warranty. Going for $518, and you get free $50 shopping voucher and $15 taxi voucher.
Canon
If you print a lot, take a look at the Canon Pixma G3000, which uses very affordable ink tanks. A black ink bottle is able to print up to 6,000 pages in black, while the combined cyan, magenta, and yellow ink bottles can print up to 7,000 pages in color. At CEF, this Wi-Fi-enabled printer is going for $339, with free $20 NTUC voucher.
The new Canon Maxify iB4170 is a single-function business printer with ISO print speeds of 24ipm (mono) and 15.5ipm (color). It has a 500-sheet input tray and supports Wi-Fi, too. Going for $219, and you get $30 cashback.
The Imageclass MF212w is a $199 mono laser printer with print, scan, and copy functions. It has a print speed of 23ppm and a 5-inch LCD display. Free gift includes a $20 NTUC voucher.
Fuji Xerox
The DocuPrint CM315 z is a new A4 color multi-function laser printer from Fuji Xerox. Designed for SOHOs and small workgroups, it has a print speed of 28ppm (both color and mono), and has a duplex ADF. Going for $899, and if you top up an extra $199, you get a 3-year next business day on-site warranty.
For color printing, check out the DocuPrint CM225 fw. Using an S-LED print engine tech, this 4-in–1 device (print, scan, copy, fax) has a print speed of 18ppm (both mono and color) and Wi-Fi-ready. It’s going for $499 (down from $649), and you get $50 FairPrice vouchers.
HP
The HP DeskJet 3720/3721 is a very compact inkjet AIO (print, copy, scan) that also supports wireless connectivity. Print speeds are rated at 8ppm for mono and 5.5ppm for color. Only going for $89.
This OfficeJet Pro 8720 that not only prints, but faxes, scans, and copies, too. It has built-in wireless, supports 2-sided scanning, and has a 50-page ADF. Going for $359, down from the usual $459. Free gifts include $30 Capita voucher, trolley, and HP ink cartridge.
It was still in the box when we got there, but this is the new LaserJet Pro M12w, a low-cost, single-function mono laser printer that prints at a speed of up to 18ppm (B&W). It supports Wi-Fi and mobile printing, too. Going for just $99. Nice.
Audio
Atomic Floyd
Designed for sports use, the Atomic Floyd AirJax Titanium 2 are light and feature large 15mm neodymium drivers. It is going for just $109 (U.P $289).
Logitech
Looking for a simple, fuss-free 2.1 speaker system? Check out the Logitech Z333 which is going for $89 (U.P $109).
Marshall
The Marshall Major II has a handsome retro design and features soft cushion earpads, a fully collapsible design, and large 40mm drivers. It is priced at $149 (U.P $179).
Parrot
The Parrot Zik 3 is a stylish wireless headphone that was designed in collaboration with famed designer Philippe Starck. It is going for $499 (U.P $599).
Sennheiser
The Sennheiser HD 449 are designed for portable use and and are optimized for use with portable devices like smartphones. It is going priced at $119 (U.P $199).
The Sennheiser HD 439 are tuned for bassheads and feature stronger bass response. It is going for $109 (U.P $189).
Computing Accessories & Storage
Logitech
The Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum wireless 7.1 gaming headset was launched exclusively in Singapore late last year. The headset is extremely versatile as it will work with a myriad of systems, including PCs, mobile devices, and consoles. It features a mix adapter and two analog inputs that can connect and mix sound from up to three devices. It’s priced at $239.
The Logitech K480 Bluetooth keyboard promises to meet your mobile typing needs, regardless of whether you're using an iOS, Android or Windows device. Its integrated dock allows you to slot your tablet or smartphone onto the keyboard and type as you would on a laptop. You can get it for $55 now at CEF 2016.

A classis 10 years in the making, the Razor Diamondback gaming mouse is back! Announced in May this year, the Samsung EVO Plus 256GB microSD card can be yours for $199. It makes use of 48-layer 3D TLC V-NAND instead of the usual planar NAND. The 32GB version is priced at $42, and the 64GB version, at $60. We noticed that these drives are about 30- to almost 40% cheaper than their prices a year ago!

The Toshiba Canvio Connect II comes in four colors with prices beginning at $85 (U.P. $109) for the 1TB drive. The 2TB model is priced at $129 (U.P. $169); however, the 3TB version isn’t on sale at the show. The WD My Passport Wireless Pro is a wireless portable drive that boasts of a long-lasting, rechargeable battery. It comes in two capacities, 2TB ($349, UP: $399), and 3TB ($449, UP:$499).
