It was bound to happen eventually.
Netflix has just announced that prices will be going up for all the plans it offers in both Singapore and Malaysia, starting from January 9, 2020. In Singapore, the new prices are:
- Basic: S$11.98 (previously S$10.98)
- Standard: S$15.98 (previously S$13.98)
- Premium: S$19.98 (previously S$16.98)
In Malaysia, prices will be:
- Basic: RM35 (previously RM33)
- Standard: RM45 (previously RM 42)
- Premium: RM 55 (previously RM51)
Fortunately, Netflix’s mobile plan (available in Malaysia and India) will remain at its RM17 monthly price. According to The Straits Times, this increase in prices will allow Netflix to continue delivering quality TV series, as well as fund technology improvements.
