This is a pretty massive cast.
Director James Gunn recently took to DC FanDome to debut a first look at his upcoming movie: The Suicide Squad. Despite the return of a few characters from 2016’s Suicide Squad, it looks like this will be a soft reboot of the DC franchise - featuring a brand-new, absolutely massive Task Force X.
Watch the Roll Call trailer below:

Gunn’s new Task Force X has been shrouded in secrecy for awhile, but a ‘Roll Call’ trailer reveals the identities of every new antihero on the team. Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang and Amanda Waller return for the 2016 movie - joined by 13 (!) new teammates, most of whom are destined to die unfortunate deaths.
The cast is absolutely stacked, with Idris Elba, John Cena, Peter Capaldi, Nathan Fillion, Alice Braga and more joining the band of murderous misfits. The characters they play are pretty deep cuts in DC Comics lore too - from Bloodsport, Peacemaker and the Thinker to Polka-Dot Man, Ratcatcher and King Shark. Some of these characters are likely to be more useful than others. I’m looking at you, Weasel.

Interestingly, James Gunn has mentioned that The Suicide Squad has more practical sets and effects than all of his other movies combined. The director previously directed Guardians of the Galaxy and its sequel, with plans to complete that trilogy after releasing The Suicide Squad.
The Suicide Squad will release in theatres on August 6, 2021. If the comics are any indication, most of this incredibly bloated team is going to die - so don’t get too attached to King Shark!
A ton of news has come out of DC FanDome - including new trailers for The Batman, Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
