You no longer need to mortgage your house to get MSI's new GT80 Titan

If you're having trouble thinking up of ways to scrounge up the $5699 for the GT80 Titan SLI, we have good news! What if we told you that you could get a GT80 Titan at a price just a bit more than a GT72 2QE Dominator Pro? Intrigued?

We really can't wait to get our hands on the machine.

We really can't wait to get our hands on the machine.

The GT80 Titan SLI is an impressive gaming machine but it's also a major investment. We can understand if the price is an issue for some people. Of course, as gamers, we want the very best but sometimes reality doesn't want to cooperate and you just don't have the funds to spend on a machine that costs more than $5000. If you want a GT80 but can't afford one at the $5699 asking price, prepare to have your day made.

We've had a talk with MSI's local distributor and have gleamed some very interesting information for those on the fence on whether to get the GT80. They confirmed that here'll be two different variants of the GT80 TItan. We touched on it in our previous article, but now we can finally clear the air.

There'll indeed be two different models of the GT80 Titan. The GT80 TItan SLI (out now), retails at a base price of $5699. Here's where the good news comes in. There's another model of the GT80 Titan which is not SLI, which will retail for $4699, coming soon.

We uploaded this image yesterday but MSI have informed us that the pricing is an error.

So if you were wondering, you can disregard that image we took yesterday. The GT80 2QE Titan SLI does not retail from $4599. If you want an SLI gaming notebook in that range, look at the Aorus X7 Pro or the Aftershock Titan V2.1We repeat, the GT80 Titan starts at $4699 for the model without SLI and $5699 for the SLI model.

The single card model will be hitting stores some time next month, so you still have time to save up, especially if you are thinking of buying a GT72 2QE Dominator Pro. Just add in a few hundred dollars more and you can be the envy of all your gamer friends, gaming on a brand spanking new GT80 Titan.

Then again you might be asking yourselves if it's worth it. After all, you're trading a whole graphics card to make up for the price drop. The main point in getting a GT80 is the mechanical keyboard. If you want a SLI notebook, there are other cheaper alternatives. The reason main reason to get a GT80 is the mechanical keyboard, with its Cherry Brown keys. Mechanicalkeyboards.com has a handy poll where users can vote for their favorite switches and Cherry Brown is one of the leaders in both gaming and typing categories. PCWorld has a great article up as well, detailing the pros and cons of a mechanical keyboard.

Mull things over and if you're still unsure about mechanical keyboards, we're sure stores at Funan or Sim Lim will have some on demo that you can try out for yourselves. For those who know they want the GT80 Titan and don't mind giving up a graphics card to save some money, here's a picture of a giant MSI plush dragon (it was at the GT80 launch event) while you wait.

If only MSI had the plush up for sale, we'd buy it in a snap.
