Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, has announced a major push to bring its popular gaming franchises to Apple devices.

In May, we wrote that the publisher will be bringing the latest instalment of its Assassin's Creed series, Assassins’s Creed Mirage to Apple devices. The game will only be available for play on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, and iPad Pro/Air that were launched from 2021 onwards, however.

This is the first time that a mainstream Assassin’s Creed console game has been ported to mobile devices, and game takes players on a journey that follows Basim as he changes from a street thief to a Master Assassin in 9th-century Baghdad.

But Mirage isn’t the only Assassin’s Creed game coming to Apple devices. During Apple’s livestreamed WWDC 2024 event, Ubisoft's executive producer, Marc-Alexis Cote announced that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will be out for macOS devices on the same day it hits consoles and Windows PC on 15 November.

Beyond the Assassin’s Creed series, Ubisoft also launched Rabbids: Legends of the Multiverse, a wacky battle card game, on Apple Arcade. It has also announced plans to bring Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown to macOS computers later this year, leveraging on Apple’s Metal API and the power of the M-series processors.

Having announced a brand new game mode for iOS 18 during WWDC, it looks like Apple is finally showing its hands in making its devices more compelling to traditionally PC and consoles publishers.
