Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage, already available on PC and consoles since last October, will be available on iOS and iPadOS devices on 6 June, 2024. There’s a big caveat though – just like Death Stranding (read our impressions here) before it, Mirage will only work on models powered by either an A17 Pro or M1 chip or later. That hardware limitation means Mirage will only run on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, and iPad Pro/Air that were launched from 2021 onwards.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes players to 9th-century Baghdad, where they play as Basim, a character introduced in AC Valhalla (read our review here). Unlike his previous role, Basim now headlines his own story, navigating the complexities of life as an assassin after abandoning his earlier life as a thief during the Islamic Golden Age.
Ubisoft has tailored the game’s controls for the iPhone and iPad touchscreens and features like cross-progression and cross-save via Ubisoft Connect are included. So you can always continue your assassin journey even when on the go, since you can maintain your game’s progress across different platforms.
The decision to make Assassin’s Creed Mirage available only on the most recent Apple devices highlights the increasing demand for high-performance gaming in mobile devices, and also the ever-evolving gaming capabilities of iPhones and iPads, which are now more than ever a viable platform for more graphically demanding games.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available for pre-order on the App Store, and players can trial the game for 90 minutes for free before deciding whether to purchase the full game.
