Oculus Rift pre-orders start later this week
It's 2016 and Oculus VR has finally deemed us worthy to tell us when the Oculus Rift is going to be up for pre-orders! Hint: It's earlier than we expected.
If you're hoping to be one of the first to get the headset, better get ready.
Looks like the gears are finally in motion, as Oculus VR has finally announced the date when everybody the world over can pre-order the Oculus Rift.
Pre-orders for the headset will start on Wednesday, the 6th of January at 0800hrs PT. In Singapore, that equates to Thursday, the 7th of January, at midnight. Weirdly, Oculus VR still hasn't announced a price yet for the headset, only confirming earlier statements that it will be priced higher than US$350.
Those interested in pre-ordering can stake out the Oculus Rift's website, which is where pre-orders will be taken when the time comes.
As we mentioned in earlier reports, those who pre-order the Oculus Rift will also get Eve: Valkyrie for free as well as Lucky's Tale, a free game available for all Oculus Rift purchases. On top of that, it also looks like production for the consumer units have been underway for some time already, as finished commercial units are already shipping out to select developers. Hopefully this means that there will be adequate supply come launch.
In other related news, Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey will be doing an AMA on Reddit on Wednesday, starting from 6pm. For us, the AMA starts at 10am so if you want to pepper the guy with questions, this might be your best chance to do so.
