Comex 2024 is now on at Suntec Convention Centre levels 3 and 4, from today until 1 September. The HardwareZone team headed down to take a look at some of the best deals that you can look forward to enjoying. For me, I was there to look out for the best or interesting gaming deals including gaming PCs, accessories and more.
You can also head on over to our Tech Show Portal to check out brochures, the floor plan and other deals (computing, mobile, audio, etc) covered by the HWZ team.
ROG Strix G16 gaming laptop
As you come up to the exhibition floor it’s hard to miss this ROG Strix G16 offer as I’ve seen posters of it at the Challenger’s booth as well as inside the main hall. The gaming laptop comes in a variety of specifications, but I thought the Core i9-14900HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU combo offers the best value for performance at $2,899. But if you’re looking for more graphics firepower there’s also a model with the GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU that is selling for $4,249.
The Strix G16 bears a lot of resemblance to the Strix Scar 16 that we reviewed earlier this year too, and you can read about it here.
Aftershock PC deals
No computer shows are complete without Aftershock. The homegrown PC brand is back at Comex with some pretty good deals, and the one that caught my eye is their Rapid Level 4 AMD PC that comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 CPU and ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 Dual OC 12GB graphics card for a show price of $1,479. The unit also comes with 16GB of memory and 1TB SSD. For an added bonus, the bundle also comes with a free copy of Star Wars: Outlaws (read our review).
Yes, Aftershock’s Bubble Tea PCs are also available starting from $1,505.
ROG 27-inch PG27AQDM gaming monitor
Looking for a new 27-inch OLED gaming monitor? The ROG PG27AQDM is on offer for $1,249 (usual $1,459) and its 2560 x 1440px OLED panel comes with a zippy 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time. It’s perfect for shooter games. ROG makes some of the best gaming monitors, albeit pricey ones, so this is a good chance to get it at a discounted price if you’ve been saving up for one. The PG27AQDM is available at CR Group’s booth (8118).
Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD)
But if you’re looking for a larger OLED gaming monitor that dishes out eye-searing 4K visuals, then this is arguably the best deal I’ve seen anywhere. Our review of the Odyssey OLED G8 is still in progress but without spoiling too much, we can reveal that the G8 is one of the best 32-inch gaming monitors to get in 2024. Best Denki (8105) is offering a special price of $1,698 (usual $2,058) at their Comex booth, but a salesperson there quoted me $1,568 and you could get lucky too.
ROG Falchion RX Low Profile Wireless Keyboard
This ROG keyboard is one of my personal favourite and it truly deserves our Editor’s Choice (read our review). Interestingly, the ASUS has been bringing the price of the keyboard down at each tech show. For instance, it was selling for $289 at CEE 2024 a few months back, but ASUS is dropping the price to $239 at Comex. You can find this deal at CR Group (booth 8118).
Lenovo Legion Go gaming handheld
This Tech Award best PC gaming handheld winner is available at a special price of $950 (with Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor), but I suspect the price will drop further during over the weekends. So, if you’re in the hunt for the Legion Go, it might be worthwhile to drop by the Atrix booth (8111). If you’re wondering why we think the Legion Go is one of the best PC gaming handhelds around, check out our review. Bonus tip: Always ask the salesperson for their “best price”.
Lenovo Legion 9i gaming notebook
The Legion 9i won the Best Gaming Laptop category in our Tech Awards 2024: Editor’s Choice, and for good reasons. It’s not only the fastest gaming laptop in our tests, but its excellent thermal solutions also worked well to manage all the heat generated by the Intel Core i9-14900HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU processors despite its slim form factor. At Comex, a souped-up Legion 9i with 64GB and 2TB SSD is going for $6,099 (usual $6,999) and you can find it at Atrix’s booth (8111).
Prism+ 49AL 240Hz Ultrawide gaming monitor
If you’re looking for a 49-inch ultrawide gaming monitor that won’t break your bank account, consider the Prism+ 49AL 240Hz. It does not come with some of the bells and whistles that you see in more expensive alternatives such as a built-in KVM switch, but it does come with a QD-OLED panel by Samsung. For $1,798, the 49AL 240Hz is a well-priced, no-frills ultrawide gaming monitor.
Secretlab Titan Evo chair and Premium Footrest
Secretlab has quite a few onsite promotions at Comex, including savings of up to $128 when you purchase the Titan Evo gaming chair and Premium Footrest (read our review). Getting this bundle also means you’ll also get a same-day flatpack delivery as well as a Memory Foam Lumbar Pillow for free.
Philips Hue – Ultimate Home Theatre bundle
If you’re looking to add some RGB love in your living room setup, the Philip Hue’s ultimate home theatre bundle is a great option. It comes with a Gradient Lightstrip that fits a 65-inch television, Play Bar base kit, HDMI sync box and a Bridge. The usual price for this bundle is more than $1,000 but there’s a special Comex price of $739 at the Philips Hue booth (8135).
TCL C655 98-inch QLED 4K Google TV
Nothing beats an OLED panel when it comes to vibrant colours and pitch blackness on television. But this QLED 4K Google television by TCL (booth 8121) caught my eyes not only because of its gargantuan 98-inch size, but because it’s going on offer for $3,999. That makes it one of the most “affordable” 98-inch televisions around to pair with your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. It might be easier to find that money than the space to house a television of that size, but if you have the space for it and don’t want to spend 5-digit dollars (oh the irony) for a 98-inch, the TCL C655 seems like good value.
