Apple iPhone Rumors Round-up

Apple's annual Worldwide Developer Conference ended with no news of its refreshed iPhone, while its iOS 5 update will only be made available in Fall 2011. While the web is abuzz with speculation that the updated iPhone, currently known as the iPhone 5, will be launched sometime in September, Bloomberg Television's "InsideTrack" spoke to sources close to Apple, stating that the Cupertino-based company is set to launch the iPhone 5 in September.

Bloomberg - Apple Inc. plans to introduce a new iPhone in September that boasts a stronger chip for processing data and a more advanced camera, according to two people familiar with the plans. The iPhone is Apple’s top seller, accounting for half of revenue last quarter. Deirdre Bolton reports on Bloomberg Television's "InsideTrack."

While September is traditionally set as the period when the iPod series gets an update, it's not too far-fetched to see the iPhone 5 taking over that particular spotlight to coincide with the iOS 5 roll-out. Further to that, Bloomberg has stated that the iPhone 5 will share the same dual-core A5 processor seen on the iPad, another speculation that is somewhat accurate until we hear the official announcement from Apple. An 8-megapixel camera is also expected on the new iPhone, complementing the updated imaging features found on iOS 5.

Meanwhile, Reuters has also reported on a possible entry-level iPhone aimed at developing countries, signaling Apple's latest aim to gain a foothold in markets that are dominated by the likes of Nokia with its affordable low-end devices.
