Acer is Getting Ready for Windows Phone 7

It's of no surprise that we're hearing Acer having plans for Windows Phone 7 devices. After all, the company, which isn't a rookie in the smartphone manufacturing market, started off with Microsoft Windows Mobile. However, during the interim period, the focus was switched to Google Android for the potential it holds in customization and usability.

WMPoweruser.com - Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci spoke to AllthingsD about plans for a Windows Phone 7 device. He told All Things D the company introduced smartphones 18 months ago, initially Windows Mobile, and then Android when the user experience was felt not to be up to snuff.

Looking forward, Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci has stated that the company has plans for Windows Phone 7, citing the same opportunity as what they see on Android in terms of customization. The extent of customizing an Acer Windows Phone 7 device, however, is still up for debate. Still, this bodes well for Microsoft, with more manufacturers coming on board the Windows Phone 7 platform.
