You can play the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare open beta right now on PS4!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will host two open open betas this month - but PlayStation 4 users will be able to get into the action first. This beta will include a bunch of different game modes and maps, so let’s break it down.
This beta will run from today, September 13 to September 17, 2019. This will be opened to everyone to play on the PS4, no matter whether you pre-ordered the game or not. You’ll be able to play through the new 2v2 Gunfight mode, as well as traditional 6v6 and larger game modes in the game.
This is the PS4-exclusive weekend 1 of the Modern Warfare beta period. Weekend 2 will open the beta up to more platforms, available on PC, Xbox One and PS4 with cross-play enabled. Players who have early access after pre-ordering the game will get to play it from September 20 to September 21. After that, anyone can pick it up and play from September 22 to September 24.
Patrick Kelly, creative director and co-studio head at Infinity Ward explained their reasons behind such a massive beta:
With Modern Warfare, we’re bringing the gaming community together like never before. Starting with the beta we are going to be soliciting player input and feedback that will help us to polish and refine the Day One experience at launch. Starting this weekend we’re planning to give players access to new features and maps each day. Then next weekend, we will introduce crossplay, enabling players to connect with friends and other gamers across platforms. We are also planning to expose more new content and ways to play in the second weekend. In all, we can’t wait for the community to jump in both weekends.
The most exciting part of all this is that more content will slowly be added to the beta over each weekend. We will even see the Battlefield-like enormous 64-player Ground War mode added to the beta for everyone to try out. Other than that, we’ll see night-vision maps and a ‘Realism’ mode added eventually as well.
