You can now use the D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD home security camera with Android

A month after dropping the price of its HomeKit-enabled Omna 180 Cam HD camera, D-Link has now pushed out a new firmware (1.3), updated its iOS app, and released its first Omna app for Android.

With the new firmware and apps, you can now register for a free Omna account in the new apps. This is neccessary if you want to do remote live streaming and event notifications but don’t have an Apple TV or iPad that you can leave at home to use as a Home Hub (i.e., a gateway for controlling the camera). This availability of this feature is also why D-Link is now able to release an Omna app for Android.

In addition, you can now pinch to zoom an area of the live view for a closer look and download video clips and snapshots that are on the camera’s microSD card to your phone. There are also new options to turn off night vision and the camera’s LED status indicator.
