You can now test the connection speed between your devices and your Google Wifi access points

Google has today announced that it’s adding to its Wifi mesh networking system a feature that lets you measure how each individual device is performing on your Wi-Fi network.

Part of Google Wifi’s existing Network Check feature, which already allows you to test your internet connection speed and the quality of the connection between your Wifi access points, this new addition will enable you to easily determine if any erratic performance on a device is due to a flaky Wi-Fi connection. For example, if your bedroom TV is only getting 10Mbps, that could explain why it’s constantly buffering when streaming Netflix in 4K. And armed with that knowledge, you can then decide if you wish to move the access point closer to the device or re-position the device for a stronger connection.

Google says it’s rolling out this update starting today, and all Google Wifi users should get it in the next few weeks. Network Check can be found in the Google Wifi app.
