Xigmatek’s X-Miner 1,800W power supply is unbelievably affordable

Xigmatek X-Miner

Xigmatek has a power supply designed specifically for cryptocurrency miners. The X-Miner 1,800W comes with an 80 Plus Gold certification and a total of 14 PCIe 6+2 connectors for all the GPUs that make up a powerful mining rig.

However, the strongest thing this PSU has going for it is probably its price. At S$269, that’s practically a steal for a 1,800W unit, and it’s probably among the cheapest you can get here.

It features quad +12V rails, and the multi-rail design is crucial in providing vital Over Current Protection (OCP) for any PSU above 1,000W. The X-Miner also comes with a range of other protections, including Over Power Protection (OPP), Under Voltage Protection (UVP), and Short Circuit Protection (SCP).

In addition, it uses an Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) design for higher conversion efficiency and a power factor of up to 0.99.

However, you do get certain compromises for the price, such as a 140mm sleeve-bearing fan (it varies its speed according to temperature to minimize noise) instead of a longer-lasting double ball-bearing or fluid dynamic bearing alternatives. The PSU also comes with Taiwanese capacitors instead of the Japanese ones found on more expensive models.

The X-Miner 1800W will be available to buy soon in stores at Sim Lim Square. It is covered by a 1-year warranty.
