Xiaomi's 3rd-gen under-display camera tech coming to phones in 2021
Xiaomi aims to bring its third generation under-display camera to the consumer market next year.
While 2020 is all about displays with 120Hz refresh rates, 2021 is likely to be the year of under-display camera technology and Xiaomi aims to be among the first to bring it to the consumer market.
Its Under-Display Camera technology, which is in its third generation, works by allowing the screen to pass light through the gap area of sub-pixels. This enables each single pixel to retain a complete RGB subpixel layout without losing pixel density. In doing so, the area of the display above the camera will have the same pixel density as the rest of the display area. Xiaomi added that there is a special circuit design to hide more components under the RGB sub-pixels to further increase the light transmittance of the under-screen camera area.
Xiaomi plans to bring its third-generation Under-Display Camera Technology to the consumer market next year.
