In addition to the Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi has also announced the Mi Gaming Laptop, a 15.6-inch gaming laptop sporting up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics.

The 5,999 Yuan (~S$1,250) base model of the space gray-colored gaming laptop sports a 7th-gen Intel Core i5–7300HQ processor, with 8GB RAM, and 128GB SSD plus 1TB HDD storage. This is the only model that will net you a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB video RAM. For 6,999 Yuan (~S$1,460), there’s another SKU with the same specs, except it comes with a GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB video RAM.

If you need more processing power, there’s yet another 7,999 Yuan (~S$1,667) model that comes with an Intel Core i7–7700HQ processor. While this midrange model carries an i7 CPU and GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, you're still stuck with 8GB RAM, and the same amount of storage as the base offerings.

Finally, the top-end Mi Gaming Laptop costs 8,999 Yuan (~S$1,875), and is decked with a Core i7–7700HQ processor, GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, 16GB RAM, and a roomier 256GB SSD (in addition to the 1TB HDD). One thing to note is that all the four models allow users to swap out the mechanical HDD for another SSD.

Internal components aside, what else makes this gaming laptop worth your attention? For one, the Mi Gaming Laptop has a 15.6-inch full HD anti-glare screen capable of covering 72% of the NTSC gamut. It also boasts Dolby Sound and Sony Hi-Res Audio certification; 2 x 3W built-in speakers; and a “breakthrough” cooling system (large-diameter heat pipes, S-shaped metal fan blades, etc.). There’s even a hotkey you can press to enable turbo cooling. In addition, the laptop has a color backlit keyboard with four separate lighting zones, five macro keys, and support for 30 n-key rollover.

Finally in terms of connectivity, you’re looking at four USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C port (5Gb/s), and one HDMI 2.0 input. There’a also gigabit Ethernet support, microphone and headphone jacks, and even an SD card reader. All that said, at 20.9mm and 2.7kg, the Mi Gaming Laptop is also surprisingly thick and heavy for a 15.6-inch, GTX 1050/1060-equipped laptop launched in 2018 (e.g., Aftershock's Prime-15 is 18.6mm thick and weighs 1.9kg).

The Mi Gaming Laptop 15.6" is now available for pre-order in China. There’s no word if we’d ever see it outside of China.
