Xiaomi has done it again! The first batch of 5,000 Redmi Note devices was snapped up by consumers in Singapore within 42 seconds!

In case you are wondering, Xiaomi considers a device sold out when inventory is cleared, not when orders are placed. This beat the previous timings of two minutes for the Mi 3 and slightly over 8 minutes for the original Redmi. Therefore, the Redmi Note is the fastest selling Xiaomi smartphone to date.

Not surprisingly, Xiaomi Singapore's website experienced heavy traffic even before the sales commenced at noon. Many consumers reported on its Facebook Page that they could not login or check out their shopping carts. Several of our colleagues who wanted to buy the Redmi Note also had problems accessing the website.

Priced at S$199 (inclusive of GST and without line contract), the Redmi Note is one of the most irresistible, value for money Android phablets this year. The Redmi Note is not without its flaws though; we found its performance to be sluggish at times and not everyone will like its bulky, all-plastic design. Do check out our review of the Redmi Note if you want to know more.
