Xiaomi just unveiled two new additions to the Mi 8 lineup, the Mi 8 Lite and Mi 8 Pro.

The Mi 8 Lite comes with a 6.26-inch LCD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, a 3,350mAh battery, a rear fingerprint sensor, a rear dual-camera module (12MP + 5MP) and a 24MP front-facing camera.

Following in the footsteps of Huawei, Xiaomi paints the Mi 8 Lite in two gradient finishes (aurora blue and sunset gold) and midnight black. There are three variants of the Mi 8 Lite which include 4GB RAM + 64GB (1,399 yuan), 6GB + 64GB (1,699 yuan) and 6GB + 128GB (1,999 yuan). Sales will begin in China from 25 September.

As the name suggests, the Mi 8 Pro is the higher-end model of the two with a Snapdragon 845 mobile platform, a 6.21-inch OLED display, a rear dual-camera module (12MP f/1.8 + 12MP f/2.4) and a 20MP front-facing camera.

The Mi 8 Pro also comes with a pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor, which Xiaomi believes to be faster and more power efficient as it can unlock the phone once it detects the finger on the screen.

It comes in three colors: sunset gold, black and transparent titanium. The Mi 8 Pro comes in two variants: 6GB + 128GB (3,199 yuan) and 8GB + 128GB (3,599 yuan). Sales will begin on 21 September in China.
