Xiaomi launches Mi 11 with Snapdragon 888 chipset globally
Xiaomi fans will be happy to know that the Xiaomi Mi 11 is coming to Singapore. Before we get to the pricing and availability, let's look at what Xiaomi packed into its 2021 flagship smartphone.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, without a doubt. Well, they've been banging on it as early as December 2020 with a China-only launch, so this bit needs no introduction. All we need to know is, if we want to experience Qualcomm's latest flagship-tier processing efforts on a mobile phone, the Mi 11 is our first window of opportunity to do so, on top of offering 5G connectivity right out of the box. Xiaomi's own blend consists of an additional LiquidCool heat dissipation technology for better heat management in the high-powered phone.
The chipset isn't the only component that makes a phone complete. The Xiaomi Mi 11 sports a 6.81-inch, curved AMOLED DotDisplay rated at 3,200 x 1,440 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Coupled with its 20:9 aspect ratio, 480Hz touch sampling rate (yes, 480Hz), and proprietary Super Resolution upscaling technology, it's clear that Xiaomi wants the phone to be your heavy-duty entertainment powerhouse - be it mobile gaming or watching movies.
Mi 11 is no slouch in the audio department, too. Harman Kardon tuned the phone's dual stereo speakers. It has both Hi-Res and Hi-Res Wireless audio certification, which should satisfy most audio geeks that want a phone with some built-in high-fidelity audio support.
The Mi 11's 4,600mAh battery is par for the course, considering Xiaomi's penchant for big batteries in their phones. However, Xiaomi packed 55W fast-charging, 50W wireless fast-charging, 10W reverse-charging, and a 55W GaN charger in the phone's box. That's a boss move, considering how Xiaomi chose to include newer, better adapters when other brands are removing theirs.
No smartphone is complete without talking about its camera system, and here is where Xiaomi chose to go all-in to market the Mi 11. The rear comes with a triple camera configuration led by a 108MP main lens (Samsung HMX, 1/1.33-inch sensor, f/1.85 aperture, 0.8μm pixel size, 7P lens, OIS, AF, 4-in-1 Super Pixel pixel-binning). Accompanying shooters are a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.4 aperture), and a 5MP telemacro camera (for both telephoto and macro shots, f/2.4 aperture). Now, all three rear cameras work with Night Mode.
The phone itself uses a frosted glass aesthetic, and it's covered in Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus for extra durability and its premium build quality.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 starts at £749 for 8GB + 128GB storage, with a pricier variant that has more internal storage (8GB RAM + 256GB storage). Local pricing and availability information are available here!
