Xiaomi concludes its 2022’s Security and Privacy Awareness Month
Xiaomi concluded its month-long Security and Privacy Awareness Month today (30 June 2022). This is the third consecutive year where the Internet of Things (IoT) and smartphone company gathered its engineers and employees with security experts in its industry. However, it was the first time Xiaomi held this event outside China, and within Singapore.
“Protecting the data security and privacy of our users is the top priority. Our customers care about this issue more than any other. Xiaomi is committed to offering safe and reliable Android smartphones and IoT products,” said Cui Baoqiu, Xiaomi Vice President and Chairman of the Xiaomi Security and Privacy Committee.
In Singapore, the Xiaomi-centric privacy and security discussions, seminars, and employee training events were held at Xiaomi’s Technology Operation Centre near One-north MRT. These interactions detailed Xiaomi’s security and privacy governance – similar to why Xiaomi releases updated security whitepapers on its IoT and Android smartphone services.
“One of Android’s biggest strengths is the diverse ecosystem of partners. Xiaomi is a great example of this, and it’s great to see their continued investment in cyber security hygiene across their product portfolio,” said Eugene Liderman, Director of Android Security Strategy at Google.
The event also saw Xiaomi bagging a gold-level IoT Security Rating certification from Underwriter Laboratories Inc. for the Xiaomi Electric Scooter 4 Pro, while holding its fifth IoT security summit in Beijing.
