Xiaomi 13 series come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and new Leica cameras
Xiaomi just announced its latest flagship phones, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro.
The Xiaomi 13 sports a 6.36-inch AMOLED display with 1.61mm ultra-thin bezels and supports up to 120Hz refresh rates. The Xiaomi 13 Pro has a bigger 6.73-inch double-curved AMOLED display with 120Hz LTPO dynamic refresh rate. Both models have a fullscreen brightness of up to 1,200 nits, and a peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits.
The Xiaomi 13 series is powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, LPDDR5X 8533Mbps memory and UFS 4.0 flash storage.
Another highlight of the Xiaomi 13 Series is the new Leica cameras. They are equipped with Leica professional optic lens, and a new 75mm focal length for both telephoto and protrait. Preloaded on the two phones are two photographic styles:
- Leica Authentic Look that mimics the signature Leica-style of preserving the true contrast between light and dark and accurate white balance of image.
- Leica Vibrant Look that maintains accuracy and restraint while making moderate brightening and saturation adjustments to deliver bright and sharp shadows, along with vibrant colours.
Both photographic styles are upgraded to support P3 colour gamut, which helps to capture 25% more colours and significantly boost the expression of reds and greens. Both phones have Xiaomi Imaging Engine, which offers the strongest computational photography capabilities among all the Xiaomi flagships. The Xiaomi 13 Series can support RAW-level computational photography and use heterogeneous graphics processing capability to achieve Xiaomi ProFocus.
The rear three cameras on the Xiaomi 13 consist of the 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and Hyper OIS, 10MP OIS-supported Leica lens with f/2.0 aperture and 3x optical zoom, and an ultra-wide 12MP lens with f/2.2 aperture.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro sports a triple 50MP camera setup; the main camera has Leica-branded lens with f/1.9 aperture and Hyper OIS. The 50MP telephoto lens supports 3x optical zoom and Leica Floating Lens element with f/2.0 aperture. The ultra-wide 50MP camera has an aperture of f/2.2 with macro support.
The Xiaomi 13 Series also come with the self-developed Surge charging chip and Surge battery management system, which the company claims will offer a longer service life and improved experience. The Xiaomi 13 has a 4,500mAh battery that supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireleess charging, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a 4,820mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
