The Walking Dead, this is not.

Earlier today, Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase delivered a new look at the company’s upcoming slate of videogames for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X. One of these was a sequel to the zombie horror-survival game State of Decay 2!

Watch the trailer below:

The newly-released trailer for State of Decay 3 is clearly a faithful follow-up, following a woman as she navigates a post-apocalyptic winter wasteland. Her journey seemingly ends when she comes across a zombie deer, which roars at her. Zombie animals, yay!

The first State of Decay game launched back in 2013 for Xbox 360, and its sequel arrived on Xbox One two years ago, in 2018. The second game has received lots of post-launch support, with DLC content and a Heartland expansion that brought players back to the first game’s setting. Instead of just being a survival game, the series usually focuses on more sandbox-type gameplay by letting players manage resources, settlements and other survivors.

State of Decay 3 will launch on Xbox Series X and PC. The game will also be on Xbox Game Pass from day one of its launch.
