X-mini’s cool new SUPA 2 speaker is a boombox from the future

Fresh from CES 2019 is the SUPA 2 speaker from X-mini, a “portable home speaker” that delivers powerful audio thanks to its six-driver system. That’s four active drivers (two 58mm and two 36mm) and two 60mm x120mm passive radiator drivers working together for extra clarity, details and enhanced bass.

Three EQ presets – Clarity, Vocal and X.Bass let you easily adjust the speaker’s sound to match your choice of music. Speaking of controls, the SUPA 2 comes with a separate magnetic remote controller that automatically powers on or off when the remote is lifted off the speaker. Called the Smart Magnetic Maestro remote controller, this allows control of basic playback functions, volume control, EQ modes, and even answering of phone calls through the speaker.

The carrying handle doubles as a tilt stand.

Besides being a convenient carrying arm when you want to bring the speaker out with you, the SUPA 2’s handle also works as a tilt stand, letting you angle the speaker at the optimal 30 degrees for the best sound dispersion. It has Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and a 3.5mm AUX-in jack, while charging via USB type-C.

The SUPA 2 measures 270 x 130 x 65mm and weighs 952g. Its 5,200 mAh battery offers up to eight hours of playback time on a single charge, and takes 2.5 hours for a full charge. It’s going to be available globally Q3 2019, and has a recommended retail price of S$209.90.
