HP Pavilion Wave - A desktop PC reinvented

What if your traditional home PC can blend away with any place in your home? Sure there are more modern looking systems and those new hand sized systems, but you can still identify them as a PC, one way or another.

HP's new Pavilion Wave PC was designed from the ground up to not look like a PC; in fact, you would be hard pressed to find out unless you're told what to look for. The Pavilion Wave looks much like a desktop speaker and you could be forgiven for mistaking it as such. It is targeted at home users who want a stylish entertainment and productivity machine, and yes, it functions as a speaker as well. The entire PC is also wrapped in a thick fabric of the sort usually found on subwoofers or other speaker systems.

To accomplish this, HP re-architected the PC with a new triangular form factor to house a central speaker core that propels audio out through the top baffle for a 360-degree multi-directional audio with assistance from audio specialist B&O. The system's PC components are housed around the speaker core vertically and this new design effectively saves quite a bit of desktop footprint over conventional systems.

This S$1,499 speaker PC is equipped with a sixth-generation quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 2TB HDD. For speedier storage, there’s also an optional dual drive for up to a 128GB SSD. The most powerful graphics chip you can outfit it with is an AMD Radeon R9 M470, which should work for some photo or video editing or light gaming. Finally, it supports up to two 4K displays, further bolstering its credentials as an entertainment and multimedia machine.

Christmas is a great time to upgrade your life, not only because you've lots of visitors, but also because of the discounts offered this period. If you're lucky, you should be able to find this system for less than S$1,300 as we've seen it go for much less during the CEF 2016 and Sitex 2016 shows.
