WWDC 2023 debut unlikely for Apple's mixed reality headset due to production delay
Apple might not unveil its mixed reality headset at WWDC 2023 in June.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared in a tweet that Apple is not confident about the mixed reality headset recreating the iPhone moment and is delaying the mass production by another one to two months. Therefore, Kuo is uncertain if the mixed reality headset will debut at WWDC 2023.
Kuo says Apple is concerned about the market reception to the mixed reality headset, which could be affected by the global economic conditions, compromises on hardware specifications, the viability of the ecosystem and premium price tag.
Kuo's claims are in line with a recent report by The New York Times; some Apple employees are said to be sceptical about the mixed reality headset as it lacks a killer app or use case, and will require a waist-mounted battery.
