This is the world's first portable SSD with 2FA protection
If you are concerned about security and don't want people snooping about your data then you'll want to check out the new Diskcrypt M10 by local engineering outfit ST Engineering.
It is a portable external SSD that has hardware-based 256-bit AES encryption and also two-factor security protection. According to ST Engineering, it is the first portable SSD with 2FA protection.
To gain access to the data within, users must insert a smart card and also key in their PIN (at least 8 digits) on the built-in capacitive keypad. Both elements must be present to unlock the drive.
It connects to systems using a USB Type-C connector and it supports USB 3.0. It will be available in capacities from 32GB up to 512GB. It is also platform agnostic and will work with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems as long as it is formatted appropriately.
No word yet on pricing but the drive is expected to launch later this year around October.
