The World Health Organisation (WHO) plans to launch an official Covid-19 app next week.

9to5Google managed to get a hands-on with the early work-in-progress app as it is being built as open source. The app mainly delivers the same Covid-19 related advice found in the recent WhatsApp chatbot rolled out by WHO.

There are plans to include alert notifications specific to the users' locations and "self-triage" tools to help users diagnose whether they have symptoms similar to those of Covid-19 patients. There is also a possibility of using the app to perform "contact tracing" just like the TraceTogether app developed by the Government Technology Agency and the Ministry of Health.

WHO plans to launch the app under the official name, WHO MyHealth for iOS and Android devices on 30 March. WHO MyHealth wil also be available as a Web app.
