With Windows Phone 8's launch over and done with, all eyes are on the 7.8, an update that will bring some of WP8's features to WP7 devices. Nokia Lumia 800, the Finnish company's first flagship Windows Phone device, has now officially received the update, according to Dutch site, wp7.nl. Earlier this month, we spotted a video of a Lumia 900 running on WP7.8 in the wild. The OS update was earlier said to be only coming in early 2013 so this will be an early Christmas present for existing Lumia 800 owners.

To recap, the update will have the following features:

  • New Smart screen where you can resize the Live Tiles
  • New theme colors and accent colors
  • New lock screen features such as the option to automatically display the Bing Picture of the Day

The upgrade includes four separate updates and can be accessed via the Zune desktop software. At this moment, we are not sure whether the update has rolled out to Singapore but stay tuned to our updates here.
